Introduction to Teaching Literacy and Essential Skills
Workshop is designed to help instructors, facilitators,
workplace trainers and career development practitioners improve the
literacy and essential skills (LES) of their clients. Participants
will learn about the LES framework and gain an understanding
of different approaches for improving skills. These
interactive, hands-on sessions include:
- Introduction to adult literacy and the 9 workplace essential
skills
- Complexity levels associated with the essential skills
- Understanding of how skills relate to success in learning,
employment and life
- Understanding of how skill gaps impact individual outcomes
- Approaches to identifying learning/training needs
- Models for teaching and improving LES
- Strategies for developing learning materials and instructional
resources
We recognize that each of our clients is unique. Prior to
your session, a TOWES facilitator will contact you to discuss your
individual learning needs. The workshop content will be
catered to ensure you gain the most from session.
Sessions are delivered face-to-face by an experienced TOWES
practitioner.
